How Folding@home’s fight against COVID-19 Enlists Gaming Communities and over 4 million computers, have joined the crusade against COVID-19


In light of the recent COVID-19 pandemic, scientists and laboratories all over the world are working hard to find drugs and cures for the virus. However, they do not have all the computing power they need, which slows progress for a vaccine that can provide immunity from a virus that has stayed constant for the better part of the year. One company, has spent their time, finding ways games can use their CPU (Computer Processing Unit) and GPU’s(Graphics Processing unit) Constructively to help
The new Crowdsourced, supercomputer project Folding@Home, will lease a gamer’s CPU and GPU computing power to "projects" where the computing power is used to seek and understand how certain diseases work and how to cure them. With Covid-19 now coming about, the company has now shifted focus into using blockchain technology to help companies find a vaccine for Covid-19.
With these actions, gamers, like those from the Get Through Gaming(GTG) Community, can “rise up”, to the challenge of contributing to the cause of Covid-19 using their Personal Gaming rigs, mobile phones, or console platforms to datamine using a small portion of their devices, processing power to help solve complex algorithms and equations using blockchain type technology while gaming in the comfort of their home.
